Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Ukrainian language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (foreign) languages. PLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 17. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or learning

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting this course, students should know: a sufficient level of knowledge from the courses studied during the first year of the university bachelor's degree (semesters 1–3) in accordance with the programs, to know the current state of development of the Ukrainian literary language; principles of linguistic analytical work with scientific sources; basic linguistic concepts, terms in the field chosen for specialization; features of compiling modern terminological dictionaries of various types. 2. Be able to explain the meaning of the main linguistic terms provided by the program; be able to analyze texts. 3. To have elementary skills of formulating one's opinion, to have an idea of language as a system. Fluency in scientific terminology corresponding to the chosen specialty of the field of knowledge.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the specifics of the Ukrainian scientific language, with the functioning of the scientific style of the modern Ukrainian literary language, to promote the development of the ability to express one's opinion, organize a scientific text, and determine the features of scientific communication depending on the sub-style and genre.

Assessment methods and criteria
The form of the final control of the exam. According to the types of works, a student can score the following number of points: Performances in class - from 2 to 4 points (4x8 = 32+3) Scientific message - from 7 to 10 points (10x1 = 10) Scientific essay - from 15 to 20 points (1*20 = 20) Scientific report - from 10 to 15 points (1*15 = 15) test work - from 12 to 20 points (20) Final assessment: exam.
