Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students should know the historical development of the science of folkloristics, the main schools, trends and approaches, the formation and development of folkloristics studies as an interdisciplinary field of knowledge.
Course content
The Aim of the Discipline: to form a holistic understanding of the modern scientific discourse regarding the problems of modern folkloristics. Annotation. the multy-semestrial academic discipline“a foreign language” is focused on the formation of foreign-language communicative competence at the level B2 – B2+ in accordance with the Common European Recommendations on Language Education (2003) to ensure effective communication of future specialists in various situations of social, educational, academic and professional communication. . This course is a mandatory component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the educational qualification level “bachelor”, the field of knowledge 03 “Humanities”, specialty 035.09 Philology (EP “Folkloristics with in-depth study of a foreign language").

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
During the semester, practical classes are held on the relevant topics, then the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in educational program. Communicative teaching method is used.

The total grade for the semester consists of the points received for class work (which synthesizes and independent work on theoretical material to prepare for class work: oral answers, module tests) and for independent work (preparation for pairs). Form of final control: intermediate control. Final assessment: none.
