            PLO 21. Interpret, summarize, annotate, and adequately translate oral and written texts of various styles and genres from German, English, and Ukrainian languages, excluding highly specialized texts. 
PLO 22. Utilize knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguocultural studies of German- and English-speaking countries to facilitate successful communication and accurate translation. 
PLO 23. Demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze the specifics of the communicative situation in translation and its impact on translation decisions.
PLO 28.1. Demonstrate the ability to perform interlingual communicative mediation based on knowledge of the socio-cultural specificity.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            1. Successful completion of previous courses: Practical Course of the First Foreign Language (German), First Foreign Language (German) in Intercultural Communication, Modern Ukrainian Language for Translators, Practice of Written and Oral Translation, Introduction to Translation Studies.
2. General knowledge of the history, geography, culture, and current affairs of Ukraine and German-speaking countries.
3. Proficiency in German (min. B2.1) and Ukrainian (min. C1.2) languages, as well as translation techniques and strategies.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The aim of the course is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of various types of tourist discourse and the specifics of translating different genres of this discourse from German into Ukrainian and vice versa, thus preparing future translators for the tourism industry. The course familiarizes students with the organization of tourism services in Ukraine and German-speaking countries, and enhances their translation competencies in the field of tourism, as well as their personal and intercultural skills. Students translate basic documents related to the tourism industry, excursions, regional and promotional videos related to tourism destinations.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            There will be 8 hours of lectures, 36 hours of practical sessions which include translation of excursions, role-playing games, presentations of translated written texts in the field of tourism, and 46 hours of independent work.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            For the classroom work, including oral responses (which also includes independent work), the maximum score is 20 points. The presentation is worth a maximum of 10 points. The completed written and oral translations are worth 4 sets of 10 points, totaling 40 points. Participation in the role-playing game is worth 10 points. The maximum score for the semester is 80 points. The final grade is automatically assigned if the student has accumulated enough points through the semester evaluation.
For the final exam (maximum of 20 points), the following tasks are evaluated:
- Written translation of two texts in the field of tourism (one in Ukrainian and one in German) - maximum of 10 points, minimum of 6 points.
- German-language excursion - maximum of 10 points, minimum of 6 points.
