Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses: "Practical Course of the First Language" and "Introduction to Translation Studies"; knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation studies; proficiency in German at the B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as elementary translation skills from German to Ukrainian.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to prepare philology professionals who possess the theoretical foundations and practical skills of translation, encompassing various strategies and techniques for translating texts of different genres. The discipline develops students' basic skills necessary for written and oral translation between German as a foreign language and Ukrainian. The content of the discipline's proposed sections is adapted to the student audience and includes the exploration of the principles of adequate translation of linguistic units, ranging from words, word combinations, and idioms to various types of sentences and texts of corresponding genre and stylistic orientation.

Responses during practical classes, analytical presentations, written translation assessment, oral translation assessment.
Assessment methods and criteria
The answers during practical classes are evaluated (maximum score - 36 points), analytical presentations (10 points), written and oral translation assessments (34 points). The main criteria for assessment are the completeness and quality of mastering the educational material, as well as the translations performed.
