PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity. PLO 7. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. to know: to have knowledge of the history of world and Ukrainian education (within the scope of the comprehensive general secondary education program). 2. be able to: identify, analyze, compare information of a historical and cultural nature; analyze one's own abilities, inclinations, interests; 3. possess elementary skills: processing of a scientific text, systematization of materials necessary for work, effective organization of one's own educational activities.
Course content
The discipline familiarizes first-year students with the basic principles, leading development trends and stages of formation of higher, in particular university, education in Ukraine and the world. An analysis and objective assessment of the reasons and main historical prerequisites for the emergence of universities in the world is offered. The peculiarities of the influence of world university traditions on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system, the history of the formation of the Ukrainian university education system, the stages of creation and development of Kyiv University are characterized. The historical processes that influenced Kyiv University during its existence are characterized. The history of formation, the main stages of development and the structure of philological science, as well as the history of philological research at Kyiv University are outlined. The specifics of philological knowledge and the profession of a philologist are characterized. Students will learn about the life, creative activity and scientific heritage of prominent domestic philologists, the role and place of a philologist in modern society, the organization of the educational process and independent work of a philologist student at the university.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, individual consultations, independent work. Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem lecture), heuristic method, educational discussion, preparation and discussion of presentations (case projects), preparation of abstracts and essays, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: testing, express survey, participation in discussion, presentation (case project), essay, essay, modular control work. Final assessment - credit. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
