Learning outcomes
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Hindi and English) languages. PLO 12. To analyze Hindi linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 14. To use Hindi and English in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Hindi and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the discipline "The Hindi language: basic level"; students must have knowledge of Hindi vocabulary and grammar to the extent of the basic level of language proficiency; know the main theoretical principles, specifics and problems of translation studies as a science.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form the professional competence of students in the field of translation practice, which involves training and consolidating the skills and abilities of oral and written Hindi-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Hindi translation within the studied domestic, social, geographical, and country studies topics using an active vocabulary and phraseology and free operation of grammatical forms and syntactic models. The discipline is a part of the complex discipline "Basics of Hindi translation theory and practice" and has a practical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes, designed for active work of students in the classroom and aimed at the formation and development of skills in various types of translation. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of oral questioning and organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written assignments, tests, lexical dictations, translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
