Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate fluently on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and Turkish and English languages orally and in writing, and use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 14. To use Turkish and English, in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.
PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course involves students' proficiency in Turkish and English at a level that meets communication needs; the ability to apply knowledge of two foreign languages to solve professional problems; the ability to apply the rules of text construction in the working languages to achieve their coherence, consistency, integrity based on compositional and linguistic forms; the ability to use all registers of communication: official, informal, neutral; the ability to recognize linguistic markers of social relations, etc. The learning objectives of the discipline are to help students develop and improve their translation competencies, which involve reproducing the full text of an original text from Turkish into English and vice versa, taking into account the lexical, grammatical and stylistic features of both languages.
Course content
The discipline "English-Turkish Interpretation and Translation" is designed to develop and improve the translation competencies of fourth-year students of the Bachelor's degree program, specialty No. 035 "Philology" (035.068 Oriental Languages and Literatures (translation inclusive), the first one is Turkish), which consist in the adequate reproduction of the full text of the original in Turkish into English and vice versa, taking into account the lexical, grammatical and stylistic features of both languages. The presentation of the material is intended to be concise, simple and aimed at maximizing practical use. The tasks are supplemented by the following material: texts of various thematic, genre and stylistic orientations, videos for audiovisual translation from Turkish into English and vice versa, etc. The course describes the basic translation transformations that ensure the development of students' language and translation competence.
The academic discipline "English-Turkish Interpretation and Translation" is an independent elective component of the educational and scientific program "Turkish language and literature, Western European language and translation", level of higher education: first (8th semester; 90 hours in total, including 32 hours of practical classes, 58 hours of independent work).
The program of the discipline consists of 2 content modules in each semester. Training is conducted in the form of practical classes. The discipline ends with a test.
