Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of Turkish and English languages and literatures and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folklore, determine their specificity and place in the literary process (according to the chosen specialization). PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres. PLO 22.1. Know the main stages and representatives of Azerbaijani literature, be able to analyze literary works.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: 1) general features of the development of the written culture of the Turkic peoples; 2) stages of formation of the written system of literary languages; 3) processes of formation of national languages; 4) trends in the development of Turkic literary languages in the modern era; 5) apply the acquired skills in the analysis of language units in practice within the student's language competence. Be able to: 1) use basic and professionally oriented knowledge of the basics of philology, history, sociology and cultural studies; 2) apply the acquired knowledge in practice. 3) have basic skills: 4) cognitive and professional activities; 5) culture of thinking, its general laws.
Course content
The discipline is theoretical and practical in nature and contributes to the practical formation of future specialists in the Turkish language experience necessary in their future professional activities. The content of the discipline provides students with an introduction to the periodization of the formation of Azerbaijani literature; genre and style paradigm of ancient and medieval Azerbaijani literature; mastering the analysis of a work of art; studying the poetics of artistic forms, establishing the means of artistic expression and the features of the figurative system of a work of art. The course "Ancient and Medieval Azerbaijani Literature" consists of two independent content modules covering the study of aspects of the oral folklore of the Azerbaijani people, folklore genres, the first written sources of Azerbaijani literature, the folk epic, and familiarization with the genre and style paradigm of Azerbaijani poetry. The discipline "Ancient and Medieval Azerbaijani Literature" is taught in a set of practical classes and on the basis of independent study of methodological materials, and the discipline is completed by an intermediate control.
