PLO 14. To use Turkish and English, in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21.1. Be able to translate literary texts from Turkish into English and vice versa.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know: 1. Turkish language at least B2 level. 2. English at a level not lower than B2. 3. Basic models of translation, translation transformations and their methods; basic types of translation correspondences and ways of conveying non-equivalent vocabulary. Be able to: 1. Perform translation analysis of a text by extra- and intra-textual parameters; perform analytical variable search for translation correspondences. 2. Use different types of dictionaries (including in combination), reference books and parallel texts; apply translation transformations and determine the optimal degree of their use.
Course content
The academic discipline "Turkish-English Translation of Literary Texts" is designed to develop and improve translation competencies of fourth-year students of the Bachelor's degree program, specialty "№035 "Philology" 035. 068 Oriental Languages and Literatures (translation inclusive), first language - Turkish)", which consist in adequate reproduction of the full text of the original in Turkish into English and vice versa, taking into account the lexical, grammatical and stylistic features of both languages. The tasks are supplemented with the following material: texts of various thematic, genre and stylistic orientations, videos for audiovisual translation from Turkish into English and vice versa, etc. The course describes the basic translation transformations that ensure the development of students' language and translation competence. The academic discipline "Turkish-English Translation of Literary Texts" is an elective component of the educational and professional program "Turkish Language and Literature and Translation, English" level of higher education: first (VII semester; 90 hours in total, including 18 hours of lectures, 22 hours of practical classes, 50 hours of independent work).

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: Module I: 1. Work in practical classes: 6 - 10 points. 2. Translation project: 5 - 10 points. 3. Homework: 6 - 10 points. 4. Module test: 6 - 10 points. Module II: 1. Work in practical classes: 6 - 10 points. 2. Translation project: 5 - 10 points. 3. Homework: 6 - 10 points. 4. Module test: 6 - 10 points. 5. Final control work: 14 - 20 points.
