Course content
The content of the course is the gradual formation of knowledge about the synchronous theory of linguistics as a system of scientific branches – metatheories of linguistics, pragmatics, syntactics, designics. The course presents material on the synchronous component of the basics of linguistics as an academic discipline; finds out its difference from the scientific discipline of the same name; highlights the content of the categories "theory", "element", "unit", "concept", "pattern", "pragmatics", "syntactics", "designica"; introduces the division of synchronous linguistics into five branches; defines the basic concepts, concepts, patterns of synchronous linguistics, the knowledge of which is necessary for further mastery of the specialty. The course is an integral part of the complex discipline "Introduction to Philology", consisting of four parts: Part 1. Latin language (2 credits); Part 2. Fundamentals of linguistics: synchrony (2 credits); Part 3. Fundamentals of linguistics: diachrony (2 credits); Part 4. Introduction to Chinese Philology (2 credits).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of organization of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: oral answers, participation in discussions, test tasks, written works. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, in particular theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work; As a result: in the maximum dimension of 100 points, in the minimum dimension 60 points. The discipline ends with a getting the credit, which is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Evaluation criteria are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
