Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of language analysis and interpretation skills at all levels of its structure in accordance with the primary school curricula. 2) knowledge of the basics of literary and linguistic terminology in accordance with the initial programs of secondary school. 3) possession of skills in the analysis of grammatical forms and syntactic structures, as well as basic elementary skills of etymological analysis.
Course content
The discipline "Latin Language" introduces students to the origin of the Latin alphabet, the phonetic system of the Latin language, the basics of morphology of a noun, adjective, pronoun, numeral and verb in comparison with Ukrainian and modern European languages, frequency vocabulary in order to conduct etymological and structural-semantic analysis of Latin-language terms and prepare for the translation and interpretation of passages from ancient Roman literature. The course is included in the cycle of compulsory disciplines of os bachelor OP "Chinese language and literature and translation, English" and is an integral part of the complex discipline "Introduction to Philology", which consists of four parts: Part 1. Latin language (2 credits); Part 2. Fundamentals of linguistics: synchrony (2 credits); Part 3. Fundamentals of linguistics: diachrony (2 credits); Part 4. Introduction to Chinese Philology (2 credits). Within the first part, the "Latin language", 2 substantive parts are defined.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of organization of training: practical classes conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: oral answers, participation in discussions, creative tasks, test papers. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, in particular theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work; As a result: in the maximum dimension of 60 points, in the minimum dimension 36 points.Final assessment: an exam. The criteria for semester assessment and evaluation criteria for the exam are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website.
