Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the course: "Ancient literature". 2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations: literary studies, ancient literature and ancient literature of the East, school curriculum in foreign literature. 3. Possession of basic tools for analyzing artistic text. 4. Ability: to carry out a basic literary analysis of the artistic text, to distinguish literary epochs, directions, styles and phenomena.
Course content
Academic discipline "Foreign Literature" is a complex discipline consisting of two parts: Part 1. Ancient literature (2 credits); Part 2. Trends in the development of the world literary process (2 credits). Within the second part, attention is focused on the trends of the world literary process from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the XXI century, in particular, the course involves texts on the history of foreign literature of different eras, which are tangential to oriental history, topics and issues.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of organization of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: the answer to the seminar lesson, the implementation of a creative essay, modular control tests, the maintenance of a dictionary of literary terms. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, in particular theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work; As a result: in the maximum dimension of 60 points, in the minimum dimension 36 points.Final assessment: an exam. The criteria for semester assessment and evaluation criteria for the exam are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website.
