Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should know: - key aspects of the history, geography, political system, social life, education, and traditions of Japan; - principles of using material related to the country-specific studies for teaching and translating from Japanese. The student must be able to: - understand and use socioculturally labeled vocabulary; - apply the principles of cross-cultural communication; - independently search for information related to the history and modern life of Japan.
Course content
The academic discipline "Japanese Country-Oriented Linguistics" is inextricably linked with the course "History of the Countries of the Region" and is also based on such disciplines as "Practical Course of Japanese Language", "History of the Language", "Theory of Eastern Literature", etc. In the second semester, lectures and seminars of the content module 1 (CM1) include topics 1-6 ("Culture and arts", "Literature", "Religion"), while lectures and seminars of the content module 2 (CM2) cover topics 7-10 ("Science and scientific achievements of the Japanese nation", "Western and Eastern Medicine", "Customs, traditions"). For passing the examination the student shall have basic theoretical knowledge in this subject.

Forms of training: lectures, seminars, self-study. Teaching methods: explaining new material, actively listening, engaging in discussions, working in groups, discussing results.
Assessment methods and criteria
