PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian and Swedish, English and third Germanic language, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, Swedish, English and third Germanic language. PLO 14. Use Swedish, English and third Germanic language in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities.

Full-time form

The academic discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation from the Swedish Language" in the seventh semester of the bachelor's degree program requires proficiency in the Swedish language at a level not lower than B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is also based on the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in translation acquired by students during the study of translation-related disciplines in previous semesters.

The academic discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation from the Swedish Language" in the seventh semester includes both lectures and practical sessions. During lectures, students become acquainted with the specifics of consecutive interpreting, training methods for consecutive interpreting, translation shorthand (principles of translation notation and a system of symbols and abbreviations), issues of professional ethics for oral translators, and techniques for preparing to fulfill orders for oral translation. Practical sessions involve training in the practical skills of using translation shorthand and consecutive interpreting of speeches, presentations, and discussions from Swedish to Ukrainian and vice versa.

Lectures, practical classes, independent work.

Current assessment for the discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation from the Swedish Language" includes oral questioning, tests, oral translation, and a final control work. The final assessment is a credit. Evaluation criteria for each form of assessment are outlined in the course program.
