Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of Swedish literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of Swedish language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of different styles and genres. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The academic discipline "Stylistics of the Swedish Language" presupposes proficiency in the Swedish language at a level not lower than B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is also grounded in the knowledge and skills acquired by students during the study of courses such as "Theoretical Grammar of the Swedish Language," "Lexicology of the Swedish Language," and "History of the Swedish Language."
Course content
The discipline "Stylistics of the Swedish Language" encompasses both lectures and practical sessions. During lectures, the concept of style, stylistic device, and the stylistic coloring of linguistic units are discussed. Students become acquainted with the main stylistic devices of the Swedish language and the peculiarities of their use to achieve stylistic effects. An overview of the development of functional styles in the Swedish language is also provided. Issues regarding the regularities of using linguistic units of different levels (phonetic, morphological, lexical, syntactic) depending on the communication situation are explored. In practical sessions, students perform stylistic analysis of texts belonging to various functional styles of the Swedish language. Additionally, they learn to write compositions using various stylistic devices.

Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment includes oral questioning, tests, and a final control work. The final assessment is an exam. Evaluation criteria for each form of assessment are outlined in the course program.
