PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of Swedish literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course "Theoretical grammar of the Swedish Language" requires mastery of the Swedish language at a level not lower than B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as knowledge of the main morphological and syntactic phenomena and rules of the Swedish language.
Course content
The academic discipline "Theoretical grammar of the Swedish language" provides lectures and practical classes. In lectures, it carries out systematization and development of knowledge of the Swedish language morphology. It considers different approaches to the classification of parts of speech. After that, it studies the main features of meaningful and functional parts of speech. The main attention is paid to the points that can be problematic when learning Swedish as a foreign language. In practical classes, it considers the issues of syntax, in particular members of sentence, types of sentences, sentence word order, and it also carries out the syntactic analysis of sentences.
