Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: the rules of phonetic design (stress, pause, intonation) of statements of different types (dialogue, monologue) in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication; etc. 2. Be able to: produce prepared or unprepared monologue statements summarizing and/or supplementing the content of what was heard or seen, following the laws of genre and style; etc. 3. Possess basic skills: technical skills for creating presentations; to implement scientific research and improve their educational strategies.
Course content
The study discipline "English Language" (5 th semester) belongs to the complex discipline "English Language" and is designed to form students' communicative, linguistic and sociocultural competence; to form students' cognitive competence in relation to other types of competences; a positive attitude towards mastering both the language and the culture of the English-speaking world; awareness of the functions of a foreign language in the educational process and in society; to provide knowledge about the culture, history, realities and traditions of the country whose language is being studied, to develop the ability to use various communicative strategies in the language; to develop students' ability for self-assessment and self-improvement, working with a book, manual, textbook, dictionary, reference literature, multimedia tools, etc. Language of teaching and assessment: English.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes conducted using interactive learning methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classroom work, answers in practical classes, presentations, modular control works with open answers. Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. Criteria for semester assessment are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
