Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the course Chinese language: basic level; 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation studies from the course "Basics of Chinese translation theory"; linguistics from the course "Fundamentals of Linguistics (synchrony)", "Fundamentals of Linguistics (diachrony)". 3. Proficiency in lexical and grammatical models and constructions, mastery of vocabulary that meets the requirements of the program "Chinese language: basic level". 4. Ability to use Chinese fluently, flexibly and effectively in oral and written form, in different genres and styles and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in various spheres of life and the basic level of language and speech training.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to learn to do basic oral and written translation, to translate texts of different topics and styles from Chinese into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Chinese. This discipline involves the formation of students' basic skills and abilities to translate texts of socio-domestic and socio-political issues from Eastern language to Ukrainian by applying in practice the knowledge of the basics of translation theory; development of skills to identify translation difficulties and decide on ways to overcome them, the use of all types of translation transformations and compensations in the process of creating a quality translation product; improving skills in working with lexicographic sources, scientific and reference literature. The course "Basics of translation practice" is one of the components of the complex discipline "Chinese translation practice" (Part 1).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training activities during the semester: practical classes conducted with the use of interactive teaching methods, and individual work. The main types of activities and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: answers during practical classes, tests. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. The minimum score for the semester is 36 points, while the maximum score equals 60.Final assessment: the exam, which is conducted in the form of written work, which is assessed with a maximum of 30 points, as well as the oral part in the form of translation of phraseological units and a maximum of 10 points. Criteria for semester assessment and assessment criteria for the exam are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
