Learning outcomes
PRN 2 Effectively work with information: select the necessary information from various sources, mainly from specialized literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify, and systematize it. PRN 8 To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Ukrainian language, and Ukrainian literature, and to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 13 Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art and determine their specificity and place in the literary process (according to the chosen specialization). PRN 15 To conduct linguistic, literary, and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PRN 19: Have the skills to participate in scientific and applied research in philology.

Course content
The discipline aims to form the students' understanding of the literature of the Ukrainian Middle Ages as having literary, cultural, and state significance, forming the basis for the formation of the Ukrainian nation and statehood. The discipline is dedicated to the study of the specifics of medieval Ukrainian literature, study methodology, the problem of periodization, pre-Christian creativity, cultural and historical features of the Middle Ages, the ideological and thematic focus of the era and its place in the system of the Middle Ages, the specifics of translated literature and eloquent prose of the Early Middle Ages, the genre of teaching in the system of ancient written monuments of the time.
