Learning outcomes
P1. Knowledge to understand scientific concepts and modern theories of chemistry, as well as the fundamentals of related sciences.
P2. Deeply understand the basic facts, concepts, principles and theories related to the subject area mastered during the master's program, use them to solve complex problems and problems, as well as conduct research in the relevant field of chemistry.
P3. Apply the acquired knowledge and understanding to solve new qualitative and quantitative problems of chemistry.
P6. Know the methodology and organization of scientific research.
P9. Collect, evaluate, and analyze the data wanted to solve complex chemistry problems using appropriate data methods and tools.
P14. Interpret experimentally obtained data and correlate them with relevant theories in chemistry.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know organic chemistry at the bachelor's degree in Chemistry. 2. Have an idea of the basic principles of molecular biology.
Course content
Modern approaches to the creation of medicines. Basic concepts of medical chemistry, basic biological targets of drugs (enzymes, receptors, ion channels, transport proteins and nucleic acids, protein-protein interactions), general modern scheme of drug development, strategies and methods for identifying leader compounds, modern drug search technologies (high-performance screening and fragment-oriented drug search and virtual screening), criteria for selecting compounds for drug development.
