Learning outcomes
Knowledge of working principles, characteristics, application areas, and capabilities of information storage devices (ISD); physical laws that limit the ISD capabilities; basic schemes for obtaining holograms and characteristics of 3D holograms; physical principles of image recognition. Having an idea of holography as a method of information writing and reading; color holography; holography using pulsed lasers; Denisyuk hologram recording scheme; holographic experiment technique and applications of holography. Ability to formulate the physical principles underlying the operation of ISD; to determine the type and to calculate the parameters of the ISD required to perform a particular task; to depict schemes of image recording and reproduction; to write down Gabor's equation and explain the conclusions from it; to implement in the holographic experiment the schemes of obtaining holograms.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lections, student's independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral surveys, written assignments, module tests.
Forms of student assessment:
semester assessment - grades for writing two module tests (maximum 30 points for each test);
final grade - grade for oral test (maximum 40 points).
Admission requirement: during the semester the student must score at least 36 points for writing two module tests.
Organization of assessment: conducting module tests and oral tests.
The final grade for the semester consists of the sum of points obtained by the student for two module tests and an oral test. One can get a maximum of 100 points.
The students who scored a total of less than the critical minimum (60 points), for certification in this discipline, must rewrite two module tests and score at least 40 points and retake the oral test and get for it at least 20 points.
