Learning outcomes
To know the physical basis of radionuclide diagnostic methods, the main physical quantities characterizing the dose load. To know the ionization and physical characteristics of the main radionuclides used in RND. To know the basic methods of recording ionizing radiation, the principle of operation of counters, in particular the ionization chamber, semiconductor detectors, as well as scintillation detectors with solid and liquid scintillators. Be able to: choose radiopharmaceuticals for radionuclide diagnostics based on their ionization-physical characteristics. Be able to: determine possibility and expediency the use of various radiopharmaceuticals and detectors for the diagnosis of various organs of the human body. Be able to: find in the reference literature the appropriate parameters and characteristics of RDF for conducting RND in vivo. Demonstrate communication in dialog mode with colleagues and target audience, conducting a professional scientific discussion.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basics of mathematical analysis, general physics to the extent that corresponds to the level of qualification.
2. Be able to apply previous knowledge from courses in mathematical analysis, general physics.
3. Possess elementary skills of mathematical transformations, logical thinking, and also be interested in mastering individual sections of medical physics.
Course content
As part of the course "Physics of radionuclide diagnostics", the following are studied: the physical foundations of radionuclide diagnostics, which are based on the radioactive decay of radionuclides, introduced in the form of radiopharmaceuticals into the patient's body, followed by detection of the distribution of activity in the examined organ.
characteristics of the ionization-physical characteristics of radionuclides used, methods of their production and detection. Discipline introduces students to advanced methods of radionuclide diagnostics and their use for medical diagnostics of various human organs.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, individual work
Assessment methods and criteria
semester assessment:
1. Modular control work 1: RN 1.1, 3.2 - 30 points / 15 points
2. Modular control work 2: RN 1.2, 3.2 - 30 points / 15 points
- final assessment: in the form of an exam
The form of the exam is written work followed by an oral interview. Learning outcomes, which are evaluated on exams, there are RN 1.1-3.2. The maximum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the exam is 40 points on a 100-point scale. It is not allowed to retake the semester control in order to improve a positive grade.
- conditions for admission to the final exam:
A mandatory condition for admission to the exam is writing modular test papers.
A student is not admitted to the exam if he scored less than 30 points during the semester.
