Learning outcomes
Program learning outcomes: PLO 17: To know and understand the role and place of physics, astronomy and other natural sciences in the general system of knowledge about nature and society, development of technique and technology and in the formation of a modern scientific view; PLO 19: Know and understand the need to preserve and increase the moral, cultural and scientific values, achievements of society; PLO 20: Know and understand your own rights and obligations as a member of a free democratic society, have the skills to exercise, defend and protect them.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should: 1. know the basic stages and the main specifics of the domestic and world historical and cultural process and have a general idea of the most famous achievements in its study in Ukraine and the world; 2. be able to find and explain information about cultural phenomena from archaic time to the Post-modern, use the categories of science about culture in analyzing socio-cultural processes; 3. have elementary skills in scientific research and information management, a critical attitude to cultural phenomena, the use of foreign-language special sources on the history and theory of culture.
Course content
When studying this discipline, the student will receive basic knowledge about: scientific and methodological support for teaching the history of Ukrainian culture and cultures of the peoples of the world from antiquity to the present; genesis, stages, specifics of development and the main achievements of both Ukrainian and cultures of all continents, mainly Europe, Asia, Africa. The course introduces both academic and innovative concepts of human history from the cultures of the Ancient East and their origins to the modern multicultural world. The subject. Goal, main tasks, methods, basic directions and problems of studying the main stages of history are determined with special attention to: antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the New Time, Romanticism, Modernity, Post-modernity, namely their practical and theoretical, in particular scientific, achievements.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Delivering of 9 topics of the course of lectures during 26 hours of classroom studies in two parts: 1. Part 1. History of culture as a science and sciences of culture. Ukrainian and foreign culture: from ancient times to the Middle Ages; 2. Part 2. Ukrainian and foreign culture: from the Renaissance to the beginning of the XXI century. Teaching methods are traditional and innovative learning technologies, in particular: lectures and problematic lectures with teaching materials on all topics for their individual interactive study.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control according to the ECTS: two-level assessment of learned material, in particular: 1. of theoretical training – learning outcomes (knowledge), constituting 40% of the total assessment, 2. of practical training – learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility), constituting 60% of the total assessment. Assessment of work (individual work) in the semester: 1. abstract of texts (12-20 points), 2. research (18-30 points), 3. essay (18-30 points). Final assessment in the form of a test.
