Learning outcomes
students' mastery of methods of experimental research and theoretical consideration of processes on the planets of the Solar System and the ability to identify characteristic patterns and analyze the results obtained. Also, the ability to learn and master modern knowledge from the course Planetary Atmospheres, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, including electronic resources, and the ability of students to abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis of material from various disciplines
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basic laws of hydrodynamics and electrodynamics, molecular physics. In particular, know the Navier-Stokes equation, the continuity equation, the equation of state of an ideal gas, Maxwell and Boltzmann distributions, Maxwell's equation, the principle of operation of radar systems. • Be able to apply previous knowledge from the courses of electrodynamics, molecular physics, classical mechanics, near-Earth space, fundamentals of plasma physics, general astronomy and methods of astrophysical research. Evaluate the accuracy of the results of theoretical modeling and observational data. • Have the skills to solve problems from the courses of hydrodynamics, electrodynamics, near-Earth space and fundamentals of plasma physics. Work through literary sources.
Course content
This course covers a wide range of questions from the general characteristics of planets, their electromagnetic properties, processes in the magnetospheres and ionospheres of planets and the origin of the Solar System, in the light of new observations of planetary systems near distant stars. As a result of the study, the student should know: the characteristics of the planets of the Solar System; the main processes occurring in their atmospheres; the physical principles underlying the processes of changing the characteristics of the parameters of planets and their satellites; methods for studying the atmospheres of planets; the main modern achievements in the analysis of the characteristics of planets.
