Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course, students must first master the following courses: "Chinese language: advanced level", "Chinese language stylistics"; to know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, the basic lexical and grammatical foundations of the Wenyan language; to know the methodology of linguistic analysis; to be able to formulate and express thoughts in Chinese and Ukrainian in a scientific paradigm.
Course content
The goal of the discipline: in-depth familiarization of students with the methodology of scientific research in Chinese studies, mastering the basic principles of qualitative and quantitative research methods most appropriate for work in the Chinese scientific information space, acquiring skills in understanding and interpreting scientific discourse.Abstract. The course "Methodology of Scientific Research on the Chinese Language and Literature" is aimed at forming in students a system of knowledge and skills of linguistic and literary research in the field of Sinology. The course includes 2 content modules. Module 1 is devoted to the formation of students' knowledge of the main modern methods and techniques of philological research, in particular, quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis. Module 2 is dedicated to familiarizing students with Chinese scientific discourse and the peculiarities of its formation on the basis of Western and Chinese philological traditions. The discipline ends with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of organization of study: lectures, seminar classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, individual project (presentation), modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall assessment consists of points received for the work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing unsupervised works, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper based on the results of the study: LR 1.1-1.2, 2.1 -2.2, 3.1-3.2. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
