P06. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres, including the pedosphere. P08. Justify choices and use field and laboratory methods to analyze natural and anthropogenic systems and objects. P10. To analyze the composition and structure of the pedosphere on different spatial and temporal scales P11. Organize and summarize the materials of field and laboratory research. P15. Be able to choose optimal methods and tools for research, data collection and processing.

1) successful mastery of such educational disciplines as "Soil Science", "Soil Science Research", "Soil Physics", "Soil Chemistry". 2) possession of elementary skills of soil research.

The content of the discipline covers a wide range of issues devoted to consideration of the general foundations of the formation and development of soils, their morphological structure and morphological features. The discipline consists of two content modules. In the first content module, the issues of soil genesis are considered, in particular the factors of soil formation, the essence and stages of the soil formation process, elementary soil processes. The second content module is devoted to the consideration of the basics of soil morphology: the structure of the soil profile, genetic horizons, morphological characteristics of soils. Particular attention is paid to the method of morphological analysis of the soil profile in general and its individual genetic horizons.
