Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of general geomorphology and geology, ecology, as well as possess theoretical knowledge (basic school knowledge) of the physical geography of the world and Ukraine, have an idea of the geographical features and specifics of individual natural zones;
2) be able to establish relationships between ecosystem components, analyze them;
3) to have elementary skills of system analysis, to understand the cause-and-effect relationships between the components of nature.
Course content
The discipline consists of two content modules. The first module analyzes the essence of the concept of soil and modern approaches to its interpretation, examines in detail the historical development of soil science as a science, the formation and development of its methodological foundations, modern theoretical and methodological foundations and priority areas of research in soil science, the importance of soil for nature and practical human activity, factors of soil formation, phase composition of soil, basic physical, physico-chemical and morphological properties of soils are considered.
The second content module examines the basics of soil formation, modern world and Ukrainian classifications of soils, analyzes distribution patterns and basic laws of soil geography, soil-geographic zoning, studies the pedosphere as a global shell, its place and role among other geospheres of the Earth. The soil cover of the world and Ukraine is studied in general terms. The module also considers the basics of rational use and protection of soil and land resources.
