Course content
The content of the discipline covers a wide range of issues from the general patterns of distribution of soils on the territory of Ukraine, taxonomic units and approaches to soil classification, factors of soil formation in individual natural zones and soils within their boundaries to the current state, use and protection of soils in Ukraine. The discipline consists of two content modules. The first content module deals with the basics of soil geography, soil-geographical and agro-soil zoning, classification and morphology of Ukrainian soils, the current state of soil cartography in the country. The factors of soil formation, genesis, properties and use of soils in the zone of mixed forests of Ukraine are also studied. The second content module is devoted to consideration of soil formation factors, genesis, properties and use of soils in the zone of broad-leaved forests, the forest-steppe and steppe of Ukraine, the Carpathians and the Crimean mountains.
