Learning outcomes
Ability to use the laws, theories and concepts of chemistry in conjunction with relevant mathematical ones tools for describing natural phenomena. The ability to build adequate models of chemical phenomena, investigate them to obtain new conclusions and deepening the understanding of nature, including the use of molecular, mathematical and computer modeling. Ability to apply computer modeling methods to solve scientific, chemical-technological problems and problems of chemical materials science.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The discipline is based on the cycle of disciplines of professional and practical training, in particular such as "Mechanics", "Electricity and Magnetism", "Optics", "Atomic and Nuclear Physics", "Solid-state micro- and nanotechnology", "Nanophotonics", "General chemistry", "Physics semiconductors", "Electrophysical, chemical and biological research methods", "Optical and photoelectric phenomena".
Course content
The discipline program examines the problems of modern energy (reserves of traditional fuel, technology efficiency, environmental pollution), physical principles of energy production using non-traditional types of fuel (MHD generators, nuclear and thermonuclear reactions, gas synthesis), hydrogen energy, electrochemical cells and fuel cells, lithium-ion batteries. The principle of action is also considered semiconductor solar cells and photobatteries, application of new materials (nano-semiconductors, carbon nanotubes, porous silicon, organic semiconductors), 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation solar cell technologies.
