Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activity. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations. The ability to generate new ideas (creativity), as well as formulate judgments, having incomplete or limited information. The ability to evaluate and ensure the quality of the work performed Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Determination and persistence in relation to assigned tasks and assumed responsibilities. The desire to preserve the environment. Ability to organize, plan and implement a chemical experiment. The ability to orientate at a general level in a certain narrow area of lying chemistry outside the chosen specialization. The ability to formulate new hypotheses and scientific problems in the field of chemistry, to choose appropriate ones directions and appropriate methods for their solution, taking into account the available resources.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Molecular Physics", "Organic Chemistry", "Immunology", "Biochemistry" and "General Biology", which are taught to students at the educational level "Bachelor". 2. Be able to: use acquired knowledge and skills for planning and implementation experimental studies using biological macromolecules and cells, including computer modeling, in biology, medicine and biotechnology. 3. Possess elementary skills: conducting experimental work with using materials and equipment used in biological, chemical and physical laboratories.
Course content
The course of lectures on this discipline includes the teaching of the historical perspective and the current state development of structural biology. Attention is paid to the use of experimental approaches for determining the structure of biological macromolecules and their dynamics in solutions, thermodynamics of stability of various classes of structures, as well as structure modeling and dynamics of proteins in silico.
