Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field. PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possessing the skills and abilities to analyze scientific literature, prepare essays, presentations, conduct a discussion; understanding the essence of the main regulators of activity and group behavior and opportunities to use them in work with an academic group.
Course content
The course "Psychology and pedagogy in higher education" belongs to the list of optional educational components of the educational program. Its subject is the psychological and pedagogical foundations of the educational process and pedagogical interaction in higher education institutions, psychological mechanisms of professional personality formation. The course reveals theoretical and methodological foundations and conceptual and categorical apparatus of science, peculiarities of the student as a subject of educational and professional activity, adaptation to studying at higher education institutions; the specifics of the development of the student group, the psychological and methodical aspects of the teacher's activity are considered; regularities of pedagogical interaction in higher education as a unity of purpose, motives, actions, results, as an organized system of activity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, practical classes, independent work, consultations. Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem-based lecture), heuristic method, project work, creative tasks, essay writing.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: oral response, addition, participation in discussion, creative task (essay, mini-project), test with open answers, test. The final assessment is an exam. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
