PLO 18.1. Know, analyze, choose and competently apply means of ensuring information security and data integrity in accordance with the applied tasks being solved and the software systems being created.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
a) Know: basic concepts and methods of discrete mathematics, number theory, mathematical analysis, data structures, programming. b) Be able to: create algorithms and programs that implement them based on the description of the transformations.
Course content
The discipline "Fundamentals of cryptography" is aimed at studying the main tasks of transmitting and protecting information from unauthorized access. It provides mastering of modern methods of cryptographic transformations of information. Cryptography includes public key cryptography: principals protocols, digital signature, hash functions, blockchain technology, proof with zero disclosure, authentication methods, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
- assessment during the academic period: 1. Active work at lectures, oral answers: PH1.1, PH1.2, PH1.3, PH1.4 – 10 points/6 points; 2. Completion of tasks set for independent work: PH2.1, PH2.2 – 10 points/6 points; 3. Essay, defense of the essay: PH1.1, PH1.2, PH2.1, PH2.2 – 40 points/24 points; - final assessment: exam. - the maximum number of points that can be obtained: 40 points; - learning outcomes that will be evaluated: PH1.1, PH1.2, PH1.3, PH1.4; - form of conduct and types of tasks: oral-written form. For educational-scientific degree holders who scored a total of less points than the critical-calculated minimum - 20 points to pass the exam based on the decision of the department, they are not allowed to take the exam with a recommendation to pass control papers and defend the project before retaking the exam. The recommended minimum is 36 points.
