Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages.
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels.
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying.
PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course "Intercultural Communication" requires knowledge of the Swedish language at a level not lower than B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as an understanding of the general features of Swedish culture acquired during the study of the practical course of the Swedish language and the course "Country Studies".
Course content
The course "Intercultural communication" in the 1st semester of the master's degree includes lectures and practical classes. At lectures, students get acquainted with the basics of the theory of intercultural communication. In practical classes, students compare the phenomena of Swedish and Ukrainian culture. Both verbal and non-verbal communication are analyzed. In particular, the classifications of types of civilizations and cultures according to Samuel Huntington and Ronald Inglegard are considered.
concepts of stereotype and identity, intercultural competence and intercultural dialogue, issues of non-verbal communication. A more detailed review is devoted to intercultural communication in the academic environment.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, consultations, practical classes, independent work. Teaching methods: explanatory-illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem-based lecture), heuristic method, educational discussion, conversation, text analysis, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current evaluation: test, interview, creative and analytical tasks. The final assessment is an exam. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
