Know and understand the key concepts and peculiarities of interpretation of terminological elements of the discipline; know the milestones in the development of Ukrainian journalism; understand the relationship between historical context and events of the past in the context of Ukrainian mass media development.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Prior to the study of the course, students must know the functions and principles of journalism, factors of its efficiency in the system of social communications, milestones and features of the historical and cultural process; have the basic factual knowledge in humanities and social sciences. 2. Students must be able to collect and interpret data about social phenomena, processes, and events; apply basic concepts in the analysis of social, political, economic, legal events and processes; identify modern features of the coexistence of human communities and societies given globalisation; plan and evaluate their work; present and argue the content and the findings of their research in a logical and convincing manner; interact effectively in a team; apply interactive and multimedia tools. 3. Be skilled at searching and analysing online information sources in global networks.
Course content
The course forms the ability to apply knowledge from the fields of journalism and social communications for further use in their professional activities. It provides the provision of professional competences: - the ability to apply knowledge about social problems, conflicts, and hybrid warfare in their professional activity (C07) of the educational and professional programme "Journalism and Social Communication"; - the ability to apply knowledge about social communications in their professional activity following C01.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge monitoring is carried out according to the ECTS system, which includes a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1-1.7), which accounts for 40% of the total score and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.3, communication 3.1-3.2, autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.2), which accounts for 60% of the total score.
