PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages. PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected). PLO 14. To create, analyse and edit texts of different styles and genres. PLO 21. To apply the knowledge and skills necessary to provide faithful bilateral Arabic - Ukrainian translation and interpretation in various sectors of economy and human life.

Successful mastering of the following courses: “Arabic: Functional level”, “ Lingual country studies of the Arab world”, “Introduction to the Arabic Philology”, “Theory and Methodology of Translation (Arabic)”

The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the specifics of oral and written Arabic-Ukrainian medical translation; learning Arabic-Ukrainian equivalents of medical terminology, vocabulary and phraseology used in the field of medical translation; acquiring skills in applying translation transformations typical for this type of texts.

The discipline provides only practical classes aimed at developing students' skills in oral and written translation of the specified types of texts. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral survey and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.

Semestral assessment is based on the oral answers, written tasks, lexical dictations, translation exercises - 24/40 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points. Final evaluation in the form of exam: max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, the examinational task consists of three questions, viz. 1) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Arabic into Ukrainian; 2) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Ukrainian to Arabic; 3) oral survey of learned vocabulary. Students who in total scored less than 36 points during the semester are not allowed to pass the exam.
