Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (Hindi and English) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 10. To know the norms of the literary Hindi and English languages and be able to apply them in practical activities.
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Hindi and English) languages.
PLO 12. To analyze Hindi linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them.
PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Hindi and Ukrainian).

Course content
The goal of the discipline is to develop the skills of written and oral two-way Hindi-Ukrainian translation of texts on everyday, socio-political, and country studies topics, as well as artistic and popular scientific texts using an active vocabulary and phraseology and free operation of grammatical forms and syntactic models. The discipline is a part of the complex discipline "Translation Practice" and has a practical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes, designed for active work of students in the classroom and aimed at further development of translation skills in oral and written two-way translation. Students' self-study involves mandatory homework and translation exercises. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral responses, written assignments, tests, lexical dictations, and translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final control paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
