Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To understand the main problems of Hindi philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Hindi language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Hindi fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of India and Ukraine. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of Hindi texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Course content
The goal of the discipline is to acquaint students with oral and ancient Sanskrit literature - the traditional foundation of Indian culture. The educational discipline consists of two parts. The first part provides information about the general regularities of the literary process in Sanskrit in India since ancient times, the periodization of ancient and oral Sanskrit literature; in the second part, the specifics of the main genres of oral and ancient Sanskrit literature are highlighted, and the most interesting monuments are introduced. The discipline is the first part of the complex discipline "History of Hindi Literature" and has a theoretical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of the students involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written assignments,participation in discussions, reports and presentations – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
