Learning outcomes
1.1 Know modern theoretical approaches and research paradigms in the social sciences.
1.2 Know the current problems of research paradigms in modern sociology.
2.1 Identify, evaluate and use the cognitive potential of basic research paradigms in conducting empirical research in sociology

1. Know the basic sociological theory.
2. Know the basic methods of collecting and analyzing sociological data.
3. Have the skills to work with English-language scientific literature.
Course content
I. Classical sociological paradigms.
1 Models of scientific explanation and research paradigms.
2 Formation and evolution of the positivist paradigm in sociology. Objectivism and its significance for the formation of sociology.
3 The problem of scientific understanding and interpretive paradigms in sociology.
ІІ. Paradigms of modern sociology.
4 The problem of multiparadigm in modern sociology.
5 Cognitive potential and choice of research paradigm in conducting empirical research in sociology.
