Learning outcomes
1.1 Know the content of modern sociological concepts of civil society. 1.2 Know the basic elements of the structure of civil society. 1.3 Know the content of practical sociological research on the forms of civic activity. 2.1 Identify and formulate key issues related to the functioning and development of civil society in Ukraine. 2.2 Identify and analyze trends in civil society in modern Western societies. 3.1 Demonstrate the skills of reasoned presentation of one's own opinion, competent and tolerant discussion with opponents.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know - the specifics of the sociological approach to the study of society and social problems; have basic knowledge of the methodology of sociological research; to possess the conceptual apparatus of sociological theory. Be able to - create presentations at seminars, in a mass audience. Have the skills of group work and public discussion.
Course content
Civil society: concepts and forms of manifestation. Welfare state and civil society: principles of relationships. Global civil society. Social movements and civil society. Features of civil society in Ukraine. Postmodern civil society in modern Ukraine. Civic practices in modern Ukrainian society.
