Learning outcomes
To know:
- theoretical and methodological principles of studying the evolution of views on the system of social protection and social assistance in the social field of scientific knowledge;
- directions of social policy in the field of social protection and social assistance in Ukraine and world practice;
- categories of recipients of social services and social assistance in Ukraine;
- principles of ideology of formation of social policy in the field of social protection in a democratic society.
Be able to:
- use the acquired theoretical knowledge and apply it in practice;
- to attract best foreign experience in reforming the field of social protection and social assistance;
- identify and assess current problems of social protection at the local, regional and state levels and contribute to their solution;
- hold consultations on coordination of activities at the appropriate level;
- evaluate the results of their own activities and make a forecast for the future.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- To know: the general laws of social development, the foundations of philosophy.
- To have analytical skills.
Course content
Social protection and security: concepts, functions, mechanisms of formation, directions.
Economic and legal support of social protection in Ukraine and the world.
Social protection entities.
Management of the social sphere in Ukraine and the world. Welfare state and its models.
Social policy on social protection of weak social groups.
Reforming the management system of the social protection sector: problems and prospects.
