Learning outcomes
To know: subject matter, research methodology, knowledge of the material on the topic of work; relevant scientific literature, works of specialists, modern publications on the topic. To be able to: record the specifics of the implementation of cultural ideas, images and meanings, critically evaluate the possibilities of their interpretation for solving socially significant problems; analyse cultural texts, verify information in accordance with professional tasks; evaluate historical achievements and the latest achievements of cultural studies to solve research problems; work with cultural facts, interpret them in accordance with the research topic; generate and test hypotheses, collect evidence, and argue conclusions. Communication: communicate fluently in the state language orally and in writing to present professional issues; present and defend research results. Autonomy and responsibility: Demonstrate the ability to continue learning with a high level of autonomy.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting to write a term paper on theoretical cultural studies, students should know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; the main cultural theories and methods of cultural studies; the main cultural concepts and categories. Be able to collect and interpret information about cultural phenomena, cultural processes and events; apply basic terms and categories in the analysis of socio-cultural phenomena and processes. Have basic skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting in relation to political, economic, cultural and artistic events and phenomena.
Course content
A course work in theoretical cultural studies is an integral part of the educational process and is designed to integrate scientific, educational and industrial factors in the educational process. In the course of preparing a thesis in theoretical cultural studies and during its public defence, students must demonstrate acquired knowledge, skills and practical abilities, ways of thinking, professional, ideological and civic qualities. It is about the acquisition of competences, the possession of which the student certifies at a certain level of study. According to the Standard of Higher Education in the speciality 034 Cultural Studies of the first (bachelor's) level (2020), a course work in theoretical cultural studies involves solving a specialised problem or practical problems of cultural studies. In the process of completing the course work in theoretical cultural studies, the student develops the ability to think critically, generate new knowledge, work independently, organise and implement research activities in the field of culture. Public defence provides the experience necessary for further work in the speciality.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of knowledge is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.2), which is 30% of the total grade and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.5); (communication 3.1-3.2); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1), which is 70% of the total grade. Final grade in the discipline: Minimum - 60 Maximum - 100.
