Learning outcomes
1. Know the basics of information theory, methods of mathematical processing of optical signals 2. Know the features of light propagation through an optical fiber, types of optical fibers, configuration of fiber-optic information transmission sys-tems 3. Understand the basics of analog, digital and hybrid optical processors 4. Know the methods of holographic recording, reproduction and processing of information 5. Knowledge of implementation methods of optical quantum cryptographic sys-tems

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Student must know: basic laws, relations and theories of wave and geometric optics, atomic physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics. Student must be able to: set physical problems, identify practically expedient approaches to their solution and to use mathematical methods according to specific task.
Course content
The main provisions of the theory of optical information systems and methods of mathematical processing and presentation of optical signals are considered. The principles of construction and architecture of fiber optic networks are described, optoelectronic computing systems and pattern recognition systems, as well as holographic information recording and display systems are considered. The principle of building quantum communication systems based on quantum key distribution protocols was analyzed and the element base of optical cryptographic systems was considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching takes place in the form of lectures and practical training, it is planned to hold two collo-quiums (oral form) during the semester, students also could prepare presentation on the subject matter.
Assessment methods and criteria
The academic semester divides on three substantive modules: two oral modular colloquiums are held, the student must also prepare a report (in the form of a presentation or essay). The final test is carried out in a combined written and oral mode. The examination ticket consists of 2 questions, the questions are evaluated for 20 points. The condition for achieving a positive grade for the discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
