Learning outcomes
- Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. - Use information technologies, cartographic and geo-informational models in the field of Earth sciences. - To analyze the composition and structure of geospheres on different spatial and temporal scales. - To be able to choose optimal methods and tools for research, data collection and processing.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful development of disciplines based on the fundamentals of information technology, statistics or similar ones. 2. Possess basic skills in working with a personal computer. 3. Use the Ruthon language program to complete basic tasks.
Course content
There is an introduction to the basics of geodata research. The main focus is shifted to the data of the geological environment and geodata, which involves the ability to analyze information in three-dimensional space, knowledge of coordinate systems and projections, features of the transition between them and their impact on data analysis. Methods of spatial statistical analysis, including variogram, methods of interpolation and approximation restoration of stochastic functions, including in a spatially heterogeneous environment, methods of classification, cluster and regression analysis are considered. Students get acquainted with the stages of data preparation, data analysis, data models, basic methods and tools for computer analysis of large arrays of heterogeneous data, acquire skills in using specialized software and visualization of results.

Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: the implementation of 2 practical projects (where students must demonstrate the quality of the acquired knowledge and solve the tasks using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), the implementation of 14 practical works (where students have to demonstrate the quality of the acquired knowledge and solve the tasks without limiting the tools and problem-solving techniques) and carrying out 2 written modular works. The evaluation in the 5th semester involves an intermediate control, which is presented based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester, as a sum (simple or weighted) of points for systematic work during the 5th semester. There is no separate form of control at the end of the 5th semester. According to the discipline, the preparation and defense of the course work is provided. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam.
