Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To characterize the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of Persian philology. PLO 11. To carry out the scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, to interpret and structure it according to the relevant methodological principles, to generalise information on the basis of independently processed data. PLO 15. To choose the best research approaches and methods for the analysis of specific linguistic or literary material. PLO 17. To plan, organise, carry out and present research results and / or innovative achievements in the field of Persian philology. PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the scientific community in scientific publications or speeches at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Persian language: advanced level", "Theoretical grammar of the Persian language", "Lexicology of the Persian language", "Stylistics of the Persian language", "History of the Persian language", "Oral and ancient Persian literature", "Medieval Persian literature", "Modern literary process in Iran". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics and literary studies from the courses "Basics of Linguistics", "Basics of Literary Studies".
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize master's students with the main directions of modern linguistics and schools of literary studies, techniques and methods of modern linguistic and literary analysis, the knowledge of which is necessary for writing a master's thesis on Persian language and literature.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of students involves preparation for oral responses in seminar classes, reports with analysis of scientific literature, fulfilment of written exercises, research presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written tasks, translation exercises - 36/60 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points, final test paper - 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 - failed.
