Learning outcomes
PLO 4. To assess and critically analyse socially personally and professionally significant issues, and suggest solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different directions and schools in linguistics. PLO 9. To characterize the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of Hindi philology. PLO 13. To explain the essential concepts of specific philological issues, personal point of view and its substantiation both to the specialists and general public, students in particular, in a comprehensible and reasoned form. PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in the field of Hindi philology to solve complex tasks and problems that require updating and integration of knowledge, often in conditions of incomplete or insufficient information and conflicting requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "The Hindi Language: Advanced Level", "Theoretical Grammar of Hindi", " Lexicology of Hindi ", " Stylistics of Hindi ", "Oral and Ancient Hindi Literature", "Medieval Hindi Literature". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics and literary studies from the courses "Basics of Linguistics", "Basics of Literary Studies".
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint master students with the basic techniques and methods of modern linguistic and literary analysis of Eastern language and literature, which students need to write a master's thesis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of students involves preparation for oral responses in seminar classes, reports with analysis of scientific literature, fulfilment of written exercises, research presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written tasks, translation exercises - 36/60 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points, final test paper - 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 - failed.
