Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, German and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication.
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of German language and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.
PLO 16. Know and understand the basic theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The requirement is to have proficiency in the German language at level B2, covering listening, reading, writing, monological speech, and interaction. Additionally, students are expected to acquire linguistic terminology from courses in phonetics, grammar, lexicology, and stylistics of the German language.
Course content
The course "First Language (German) for Special Purposes" for fourth-year students is an elective discipline and is part of the block of disciplines "Translation and Third Foreign Language." This integrated course aims at the comprehensive development of competencies and language skills that will enable graduates to take on positions such as German language instructors in foreign language courses, editors, or secretaries with knowledge of foreign languages, PR agency collaborators, speechwriters, etc.
The central focus is on the sociocultural aspect of intercultural communication, particularly within educational topics dedicated to German-speaking countries. The course involves a comprehensive linguo-stylistic interpretation of literary texts.

Practical classes, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The current assessment for the course includes frontal questioning, presentations (reports), analytical reading, written creative work, and a test. The final assessment is an exam. The criteria for evaluation for each form of assessment are outlined in the course program.
