Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, Spanish and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to ensure effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of Spanish and English, to describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Spanish and English. PLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 27.1 Have language proficiency in modern variants and registers of the Spanish and English languages.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in basic speech activities in Spanish at the B1+/B2 level; knowledge of the cross-cultural nature of translation as interlingual mediation in various fields of human activity.
Course content
The discipline belongs to the elective block "Translation in Intercultural Communication (Spanish, English)" of the educational and professional programme. It has a specialised nature and is a three-semester course. It involves the development of skills and abilities to use the Spanish language in various communication situations (up to B2+/C1 level); it is designed to provide an appropriate level of linguistic and cultural knowledge as a basis for successful interlanguage mediation in the Spanish-Ukrainian language pair. The objectives of the discipline are to master the basic concepts and concepts of intercultural communication; improve knowledge of Spanish with an emphasis on the cultural aspect of language units; master strategies for using a foreign language in a wide typology of communication situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1 of the program of the discipline.The credit is awarded based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not involve additional assessment measures. Students who have scored a minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "pass" grade. Students who do not score the minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "fail" grade. Students who have scored a total of less than 60 points in a semester must pass at least 50% of the written assignments for the semester, as well as complete the test(s) in which the minimum number of points was not obtained.
