Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in state and foreign languages (Persian and English) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 5. To cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, adherents of different political views, etc.
PLO 10. To know the norms of the literary Persian and English languages and be able to apply them in practical activities.
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (Persian and English) languages.
PLO 14. To use the Persian and English languages in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, everyday), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know: - the place of the English language in the language system of the world; - peculiarities of the English language as a complete system; - rules of phonetic design (stress, pause, intonation) of expressions of different types (dialogue, monologue) in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication; - functional and stylistic norms of the use of lexical units of the synonymous series, idioms, expressions in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication; - the specificity of the morphological organization of the modern English language: the system of tense-species forms of the verb in the sphere of the present, future and past tenses; grammatical categories of noun, adjective and adverb; main functions of the article; semantic, morphological and functional characteristics of modal verbs; impersonal verb forms and predicative constructions with them; categories of method, conditional method, its meaning and use.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to ensure the communicative independence necessary for a graduate of the EL "Bachelor" in the spheres of professional, academic and business communication in oral and written forms. The aim of the course is to improve students' socio-cultural, speech and professional competence and increase the effectiveness of communication in English by: familiarizing students with the peculiarities of communication in the professional sphere and the basics of academic reading and writing; systematization of knowledge about the lexical and grammatical systems of English; formation of students' skills of effective use of speech means in various communicative situations of professional communication, improvement of educational translation skills into English; deepening students' theoretical knowledge of the syntax of the modern English language; the formation of a conscious linguistic personality that freely uses a wide arsenal of English language tools in the process of communication and can explain the purpose of using these tools.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training takes place in the form of practical tasks and self-study work of students, which involves preparation for oral answers, written and test tasks, presentations, and modular tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for stidents’ classroom work and self-study work (written assignments, preparation for oral answers, lexical dictations, modular control works, exam). All types of work for the semester have a total of max.60 / min. 36 points. In case of absence from the practical session, the student must complete the assignment. The final number of points for the discipline (max.100 / min. 60 points) is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final assessment (exam - max.40 / min. 24 points).
