Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Hydrology of rivers", "Hydrology of lakes", "Hydrology of swamps, glaciers and groundwater", "Fundamentals of meteorology", "General geology and historical", "Soil science with the basics of soil geography", "Ecological assessment of the hydrographic network of Ukraine", "Ecology". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of Earth sciences, physical geography, hydrophysics, earth science, water and heat balance of water bodies and their basins, physics, mathematics, mathematical statistics and probability theory, ecology, statistical analysis of the relationship between factors and river flow processes, methods hydrological calculations of river water flow.
Course content
The discipline provides information and holistic ideas about applied hydrology, in particular, about hydrological forecasts, elements of the water regime, methods and techniques of hydrological forecasting, the connection of meteorological and hydrological processes and phenomena, the concept of early forecasting, classification of forecasts according to various characteristics, basic statistical principles of assessment accuracy and effectiveness of forecasting methods, as well as the theoretical and physical foundations of forecasting methods are provided. The continuation provides a description of mathematical models and modeling in hydrology, two classes of mathematical models - deterministic and stochastic, general principles of building deterministic mathematical models of flow formation processes, their verification, calibration and validation, the main goals of stochastic and deterministic-stochastic modeling.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points. Evaluation is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work.
