Learning outcomes
PR01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. PR07. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. when studying natural processes of geosphere formation and development. PR08. Justify choices and use field and laboratory methods to analyze natural and anthropogenic systems and objects. PR09. To be able to carry out studies of geospheres using quantitative methods of analysis. PR15. Be able to choose optimal methods and tools for research, data collection and processing.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must possess elementary practical skills of collection, systematization, generalization and statistical processing of meteorological and hydrological observation data, physical-geographical, socio-economic and cartographic information, quantitative assessment of hydrographic, morphological and hydrological characteristics of rivers and their basins, application of methods of mathematical statistics and theory probabilities, water balance.
Course content
The discipline studies physical-geographical, hydrometeorological factors and processes of river flow formation and patterns of its occurrence in various natural zones and provides students with basic knowledge of methods and techniques for determining the quantitative characteristics of river water flow in different phases of its formation in different hydrometeorological and water management conditions of its formation with taking into account the volume of initial information - in the presence of materials of hydrometric observations (long and short series), as well as in their complete absence, to ensure the effective activity of water resources consumers.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
lectures, modular control works, reports on practical works, intermediate control, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points. Evaluation is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work.
